Sarfaraz, Azam guide Gladiators to five-wicket win against Kings
Quetta Gladiators’ trio of Karachi-born players helped their franchise beat the Kings by five wickets at the National Stadium on Sunday.
Young Azam Khan scored a 30-ball 46, captain Sarfaraz Ahmed contributed 37 off just 28, whereas Anwar Ali played a late cameo of 12 runs under pressure as the Gladiators chased the modest 157-run target set by the port city side.
Earlier, Babar Azam failed to score big and so Karachi Kings failed to score big, finishing with just 156 runs, of which just 26 were contributed by the stylish right-hander.
Babar had earned an unfair reprieve courtesy a tech glitch but could not capitalise on it, and with him gone, the rest of the Karachi batters crumbled. Alex Hales top scored with 29, while Quetta’s Mohammad Hasnain took 3-33. Tymal Mills also took two wickets, one of which was the prized one of Babar (bowled).
